Dr. Huang Mei was born in Hengyang, Hunan province. She graduated from Peking University where she had studied
aesthetics under Master Li Zehou. In 1997, Dr. Huang received her doctor’s degree in art education from Goethe University
Frankfurt am Main. She is an international curator, a scholar as well as a writer and translator, and has been living in Germany
for more than twenty years. In 2009, she led the cultural project within the large scale project “Germany and China Moving
Together- into Wuhan Hubei”. Currently she is the president of the non-profit FIAKE e.V. and the manager of the Three Monks
economics and art education center.
Since 2002, Dr. Huang has been holding the cross-cultural event “German and Chinese Youth Art Festival” in Berlin, which is
now taking place for the 16th time. Major television channels such as CCTV and several German channels have reported about the
event. Since 2003, Dr. Huang has also been directing “Ode to Joy – 100 Concerts”. After the event had been held over 82 times and
for more than ten years in major Chinese cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, Luoyang, Wuhan, Wuxi, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, in
2015 it first arrived on the island Hainan and was continued there in 2016.
In 2013, Dr. Huang’s autobiographical novel “Marital Right to Speak” was published in China and stirred up discussions about
cross-cultural existence and development. Different news media gave the book extensive amount of coverage.
